Amazing Grace had her debut on the newspaper on August 23, 2002. I was elated when she first came out. And just like an answered prayer, I went out telling my friends about it like a raving lunatic. This year, we are celebrating her 9th anniversary. I hope and pray she'll be here, warts and all, for more years to come.
I remember the September 11 of 2001, my aunt called me up and told me to watch the TV in the wee still hours of the morning. I thought I was a scene from a movie...Die hard perhaps but when I realized that it was actually a news footage I got chills. How could anyone do such horrible thing? People are jumping off the window holding on for dear life and I felt helpless. At that I wanted so badly to be Superman and no one will be harmed...but a lot of people were harmed.I really felt during that 9/11 of 2011.

It's been almost ten years now since that fateful September 11. I am really glad that we commemorate 9/11 to remind us not so much of the hate or prejudice that caused this darkside of 9/11 but more on the bravery, the kindnesses, compassion, solidarity and strength of humanity that prevailed during this moment great trepidation.

The song What's going on?, originally sung by Marvin Gaye now rendered here by some of my favorite artists (i.e. Christina Aguilera, N'Sync, Bono et. al.), have become more significant to me because of the 9/11. The song and the event poses a challenge to all of us to go beyond our being human and become more humane in the way we deal with people of different color, beliefs, ideologies, orientations and what have you. People will always be different. And the differences should never be a cause for hate or resentment or for planes to crash through buildings but should be a cause for celebration. I am excited and immensely elated that we're all unique and different.

I love the song too. I believe Cindy Lauper also had a version of this song but this All star version of the song is just very poignant and powerful. I got goosebumps the first time I saw this Music video...and i still do especially in relation with september 11.
